Juan Suarez is a bilingual educator, leader, and advocate with over 15 years of experience serving multilingual learners in public schools across the Chicagoland area. From classroom teacher to district leader, Juan has spent his career designing and leading programs that elevate language, culture, and student voice.

Most recently, he served as Director of Multilingual Programs, where he led districtwide efforts to strengthen dual language, ESL, and transitional bilingual education. He oversaw curriculum alignment, professional learning, and strategic planning to expand access and improve outcomes for linguistically diverse students.

Juan’s journey has included roles as a high school ESL teacher, Coordinator of English Learner Services, Assistant Principal, and Principal. At every step, he’s championed instructional systems that center multilingual learners and build the capacity of teachers and leaders.

In addition to his work in schools, Juan has served as a consultant and instructor with the Golden Apple Foundation of Illinois, supporting future educators through courses on culturally and linguistically responsive teaching. His academic background in bilingual education and leadership fuels his passion for building programs where language is seen as a strength and student voice is the foundation of learning.

Now through Voices in Practice, Juan brings that vision to life—partnering with schools, districts, and communities to reimagine what strong, equitable instruction sounds like.
