The discouraged teacher! How can you help?

When I think back to my teaching years, I can remember many times when the going got hard.  No matter what I did, my student did not seem to respond.  I felt defeated, tired, stressed and worst of all discouraged.  As a leader, I often find teachers who feel the same way I felt.  My advice to them are as follows:

  1. Remember your purpose
  2. Everyday is a new day
  3. Relationships trump everything else
  4. Positive reinforcement is POWERFUL
  5. Leave early and don’t take work home
  6. Visit someone else’s classroom
  7. Improve your consistency
  8. Be creative and try something new- Ask someone if you can’t think of anything!
  9. Take a risks
  10. BE POSITIVE
